more summer colors

My garden isn't very big but it certainly doesn't lack color :)

The old fashioned roses in the first two photos (they came with the house we rent)
are probably 40 years old or more and are beautiful each year.

These straw flowers have become a favorite--but don't tell the other flowers :)

Statice, below, is new to me and I think it's a winner.

California poppies are one of those imports that love it here!

The purple below is called toadflax. a linaria.

I really like the details of my lupin.

mt taranaki

As much as I love the view of this mountain from my garden, it was
great to get a different perspective on the 'other side'.

The railroad system in New Zealand began in 1863.

stars

I'm not sure that my camera is capable of any star shots better than this,
but I tried, I clicked, I posted :)

Summer is looking colorful!

My garden is full of color and buzzing bees, too! I'm so amazed that these gorgeous flowers
grow in my garden; especially, the white rose bush that recovered by my planting three branches (only one survived) from a struggling bush that fell apart when we tried to move it.

sliver of moon

When I was closing the curtains for the night, I noticed the bit of moon.

This bit of roadside fun wasn't too far from the house this weekend.

The other side of the mountain

It was fun to get photos of Mt Taranaki from the other side with different
foreground scenery. I will share more photos later.

We stopped at Urenui beach as it had been a while since we'd been there.

I always like to see the criss-cross of the water.

green

I love that there is so much green to see most of the year in NZ.

We saw lots of wild turkeys on our recent trip.

These are the tops of  ponga trees growing along the Forgotten
World Highway.

water, water, everywhere!

There's something soothing about water, at least, to me, and it always
has a calming effect, no matter what mood I am in.

Hubby took this photo in Raglan.

Mokau Museum

Mokau is one of those towns along State Highway 3 that you stop for coffee
and a comfort stop on your way somewhere else. The museum is across the street
from the public toilets and I have seen it many, many times but it never looked open
and I never thought to check to see.

I watched a series called Heritage Rescue on Choice TV about a team who remodeled
and updated small, local museums across New Zealand, like this one, and was definitely
interested to see the updates.

So, of course, I had to check it out the next time we passed through, which was for
our caves and rail-car trip.

To be honest, it still didn't look open, but Hubby and I checked it out anyway, and it was open!

These are a few highlights that I found interesting. There were lots of other things, too.

This fridge on the porch  caught my eye--great idea for re-purposing!
